  • Cadillac Seville STS ’96

Good morning This is my first post at once, but I have read through some posts now, since I am the proud owner of my first Cadillac. But now I have a question and I noticed with the running engine that such a grinding noise comes here and have looked once with open hood and found the timing belt(?). For the first time of course a bit astonished, because I thought the Northstar was operated with control chain. I will now be warscheinl I’m outing as an absolute newcomer, but this may be quiet as I am. The “dental belt” I’m talking about is this one here: http://www.caddyinfo.com/46_lg.jpg Funny as well, the teeth are missing, so it won’t be the timing belt, but the timing belt? It’s the following model: Cadillac Seville STS 96 Cadillac Northstar 4.6 V8 As also stated on this page: http://www.aa1car.com/library/2002/us100232.htm Before I continue with any words and uncertainties I’m waiting for your answers and I hope for help, because at least I want to know what my car is doing under the hood and not that I’m driving this car in the ground – completely meaningless. I think that the grinding of this thing comes very probably, at least when I go after my ear. My uncle, who understands about cars, meant it was something with one or more Lagers, which have to be re-educated (?). What do you think it might be? Is such a remote diagnosis even possible? With help I would be very imaginable and hope that I will get some tips from my side of laymanship.

  • Cadillac Seville “defoliate”

Hello together I’m about to buy a Seville. Jg. 94-97. Have found a cheap, quite well preserved one. Only that this grayy orange/black is foiled. Original color is dark green met. Does anyone have experience with the defoliation? As it looks like, the folation is about 3 years on it. The car itself has Jg 97. Does the folation go off without any problems? Can the paint “come” with such an old car? Could it form rust under it, which you can’t see now? (Bläschen are not visible) Question by the way… Have another 95 in mind. Did there have to be big changes except in the interior? (armatures and center console are different) Thank you! Gruss Martin

  • Need help 351C at Ranchero is going out.

Moin, I need help or tips. Drive 73er Ranchero with a 351er Cleveland engine. Sharp camshaft from Comp Cams, Edelbrock Performer suction bridge and Edelbrock 1603 carburetor with 600cfm. Alu cooler two E fans. 140ampere alternator us large Bosch battery. That before it brings someone to an idea. My problem: When packing etc. the car went off from time to time. So carburetor set. Speak mixture and speed. Idle speed in warm condition, at fully open The problem was gone. Now it came again and again and got worse. Say I drive everything is good. I turn at a traffic light on P or N and then put in a gear again the engine goes off. Get the car until I put in a gear again. Now it was so bad that it went off when turning off. So carburetor re-set so that a gear inside is fully on the brake and the climate is on. Carburetor is all right. Drive around everything in order. Will just so I don’t know what it can be. Vacuum hoses look good, as it often felt when braking at low speed. Carburettor was already lean, medium and fat set. Vacuum in P ca -0.35 and with inserted gear -0.26. What can it be? Mixture problems, speed, ignition, vacuum, false air? It’s not logically understandable when it occurs. Once I can park and crank back and forth as I want and once it goes the turn off. Even when only p was inserted and the climate etc was off. Mixture and speed was already set in all areas. Again and again sporadically this error. I am grateful for every advice.

  • problems with my new servo???

hi! so, I drive 88 g20 and recently my servo pump was smoked… (I turned off the original wave in front of the shovel… -would also be interested in how this can happen…) in any case I ordered extra powersteering fluid on kts-rat and poured it into the box… (atf oil – so automatic oil is not recommended to me…) my problem is that I no longer have the same power on the servo as before… despite entl airing etc. I can forget in the stand gas to steer the cart… with a bit of gas then as always… I want to know what you can do to help your crates… and if maybe someone has a similar problem as I do and knows what you can lead back to…

  • Ford Mustang v8 4.6 BJ.05-09 vs v6 3.7 BJ.10-12

Hello US car fans, this question goes to the people who have driven both models before, say the Ford Mustang GT V8 4.6l from 05-09 and the V6 3.7l from 10-12. Can you possibly pull a few comparisons? (I’ve already wussed through the forum, but with still missing the direct comparison of people who have driven both somehow). I don’t play on things like 0-100 km/h now, but is for example the chassis of the newer (V6) Mustang much better, the V has you I am not interested in the top speed (185km/h at the V6). Who (of which the two were driven) decided for which one? I would have done nothing against a fair comparison, for a long time I have been thinking of getting me a mustang, I would have liked to be able to get me a better understanding in the interior than in the old and the performance is comparable to the old V8. And yes, I know that the most experienced lovers swear on a V8, but please draw a fair comparison. the design falls from a bit more recent and I would rather look in the price segment of the V6 or the old GT. P.S.: Of course there is also the old V8 in the new body (BJ.2010), I like the combination almost best, but rarely or more expensive. And yes I know that the 5.0l V8 from the latest is a piece of cream, but that another price class 😉

  • Differential problem (Fleetwood Broughham 1979)

Hello, the following symptoms occur with my Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Bj. 1979: After a short drive (usually from 15 minutes) there are flashing noises during slow rolling or starting. I then put myself with another driver next to the car: The rear tyres block again and again and then tear off. The whole runs up to about 15km/h so, then is calm. The vehicle then rolls quite normal, at higher speed you hear at least nothing striking. I have first the brakes are suspected: but these do not solve rationally and block. Now I have done the following: – Neutrally inserted and bent up one side at the back. The tire can be rotated a few centimeters, then it suddenly becomes difficult – the second tire also upbocked: Both tires can only be turned very hard – looks to me quite clearly for differential, so tub under and opened. Then laughs at what you see in the attached photo k I’m not a differential expert, but that looks like a limited slip differential (LSD) for me. Can that be!? Can that cause the problems? The disc wheels still look very good, the diff was at least filled. Thank you and love!

  • Buick shelf 1996 3.1 liter automatic transmission problem “F-Code: P0742 TCC System – Stuck On”

Hi, I’m new here and I’m from NRW. I have a little problem with my BUICK REGAL Custom Bj:1996 Engine: 3.1L / V6 / 3135 ccm Gearbox: 4T60E I have a problem with the gearbox, which when switching into the second gear the transducer bridge folds in or immediately switches a gear higher or immediately over a gear. However, this is a guess of the driving feeling and observation of the torques needle. If I hold the revolution when starting around the 2000 rpm the problem is not so Har t. But when I start it, 1500 rpm or less, then it switches to the second and immediately in the connection it switches on or something like that. It is then very subturgy. The check engine light and read out error code is “P0742 TCC System – Stuck On”. In short or long I am looking for someone who might have a little more idea of something like that. Or someone knows a good workshop in the Dortmund area who also have an idea of US Cars. , Oil and filter renewed and all cable plugs cleaned and processed with Kontackt Spray. I do not exclude a possible cable defect. Thank you for reply

  • 98er Chevrolet Trans Sport 3,4 V6 simply out – ADAC at ease

Hello dear screwdriver, who has an idea? Chevrolet Trans Sport with 3.4 liters V6, EZ 98, 130,000 km, with slow driving (about 40 km/h in the plane) the engine without making extraordinary noises has simply run out. I noticed it only at the failure of the power steering and the lighting up of the usual lights on the dashboard. The new start attempt only resulted in shaking and shaking, as if a cylinder bench (feeling rather 4 of the 6 cylinders) does not work. Opel-Werkstatt towing (because these models were sold there after the Sintra era had expired) in order to listen to me: “We can’t do anything there, we didn’t have any equipment or software for it.” Well. ADAC called out, he tried to read out: no error saved and then also baffled. He tried for a short time with the start pilot, which only led to minimal work-ready noises. A skipping of the control chain is neither from these engines from the USA, where I have lived for a few years, still known from here as typical. Does anyone have a logical explanation that I can give to the free workshop, which is supposed to deal with the car on Monday, on the way? I would hate to separate from the car – minivan with automatic, there is not much reasonable in the German market that could reach this Chevy the water: comfort, space, consumption, super transmission – everything perfect.

  • Camaro, Challenger or Charger?

Hello, dear community, I have already stretched out my feelers in another motor talk forum, but now I have become aware of the nevertheless very compatible prices of American sports cars. I will try to keep here a little shorter than in the other forum So: I will get a new car next summer. Currently I drive an old 328i, but as reliable and pleasant this car is – I am looking for something… say more vulgar I see myself now s After a very long time after all possible cars around, I am above the acquaintance of a very good friend of mine, who owns several “buy everything, sell everything”-cars already some cars test, but unfortunately was so far no Ami with me. So far I was always on German top models à la AMG, M, S/RS, which are in the purchase price relatively favorable, but you in the maintenance costs just (especially inspection and spare parts), according to German standards (), the pants pull down. So have I now decided to leave such cars to my left and turn in a slightly different direction. After a bit of research I came across these well-known modern models here: The Chevy Camaro SS (432hp, hand switch), the Dodge Challenger SRT8 (421hp, hand switch) and the Dodge Charger 5.7 (R/T) (373hp, unfortunately not available as a hand switch). I left the Mustang outside in any form, because you have my opinion For other proposals, however, I am open, but classic musclecars from the 60/70s won’t be there for now, because I currently have too little time to screw around on something like this. So now a few infos: I don’t care about the consumption, the way forward I will use the car in everyday life, but not to drive to work every day, because that’s just a mile and a half, that would be opposite the car and my body. not fair What is important to me: Should be comfortable, but on demand also really poisonous, loud and evil. I usually ride alone, at most with my girlfriend, but enough space on the back bench for at least 100 km, without which one’s legs would fall off but nice race track I do not drive with my everyday car, even if it was a Porsche. I am not an interior processing fetishist, I just want to feel comfortable and can adjust everything comfortably n. The car should be reliable, so no repair magnet, but as I read it, the Ami carriages, especially their engines, are pretty tight about that, or has someone here made other experiences? Serious weak points on one of the models? What about the cost of spare parts/inspection – as expensive as with the German carriages? I came to you in the US-Cars-Forum because I’m in other forums of VAG/BMW etc. Drivers probably always ho I hope you can give me some information and help me make my decision so that I can start with a little prior knowledge in the spring to do test drives, I’ll be open for questions.Thank you very much in advance, dear motor-talker P.S.: The Challenger’s manual transmission – are the 6 gears or even only five, like with the automatic transmission? And: if I have it, I will of course get photos and Inf os put in, even if that will take at least half a year LG, RambiBAM
