newsweek has a very interesting and clear article about the discussed fusion of chrysler and gm, a commentary that portrays this idea as an idiotic. there are so many commonalities in production and development, which would strongly negatively affect the labour market. chrysler has as valuable parts jeep and minivans, both on a descending point. therefore the author suspects that this is either a pr-stunt, which is of the strong problem to distract with the borrowing of credits related to the financial crisis, or that gm is mainly interested in chrysler’s reserves – and by cerberus maybe even gets some money on top. lieb gruss oli

Fine dust badge Chevy C1500 (just facts, no assumptions please)
Hi! I’m about to buy an 88 Chevy C1500. The car is registered as a truck and in the vehicle license is under pollutant class: “unknown”. Now I have heard that this car actually had a cat in the USA. But it flew out years ago when import, because it was not necessary for a truck registration. Well, now comes the badge crap! Possibility 1: Kat retrofitting. What’s necessary? Where do I get a suitable cheap cat? What tests does he have to pass? Do I then get a badge? Possibility 2: I read on the Internet that the Dekra has databases to check information about such US cars and there someone drove there, who looked into the data bank (instead of under’s car) and in it tand that his car actually (in the USA) has a KAt —-> badge, although no cat was under it (that this is not the most legal variant is clear to me). What else is there for Optio? Give me a hand, will you?

Registration number
Oh man, oh man…was somehow not on the running. Since January of this year, there is no longer a 07er license plate. It is new that the vehicle is subjected to a main examination and this probably also has to pass. i.e. briefly imported a hot rod and a red number screwed on it is no longer! The vehicle must correspond to the StVO. I entertained for a while with a nice gentleman from TÜV Süd. Partially there is still a stock protection at re-registration,is But depending on the state. Son shits… now becomes my part.- a total restoration.

Which carburettors are recommended? Differences?
Hello together, Since I am still a blancher newbie in the field of carburettor world, I hope that there are some of you who can help me further: I have to clean the present carburettor, a Holley, and I have now heard of some that it should be more advantageous to get a noblebrock or something like that. However, none of the “experts” could tell me what the advantage/disadvantage of a noblebrock should be and whether it would really be worthwhile. o where does a noble brock differ from an original Holley? Supposedly, the engines should run more efficiently? Can I hardly imagine. That would also apply to a Holley, if it is set correctly, wouldn’t it? Can you help me further there? And how can I find out which carburetor type is installed with me? Questions about questions… Motor is a 66er 429cui.

Reimport of German cars from USA
Hello, I have some “beautiful” German car to import from America to Germany. Now I have already collected a lot of data, only with the conversion costs I am swallowing. The cheapest thing I could find was e.g. for a BMW X5 1.835 Euronen net, so that I get TÜV on it! But now I ask myself, what e.g. with an American BMW X5 everything has to be converted, which should be largely identical with the German ones, right? For many answers I am s Thank you very much. See you then.

Chevy Tahoe Gasfest???
Hello, well, now I’m a little irritated. what I’ve taken from the contributions so far is that the Vortecs are gas-resistant up to year 99-98 and they don’t have any more. So since I don’t have a Tahoe yet, this makes it difficult for me to make the purchase decision. Actually I wanted to get a model from year 2000 on. But since these don’t have gas-resistant valves, the conversion to gas seems to be a little more complex, doesn’t it? U.K.

Problems with automatic transmission at 71 El Camino
Hello Loide, I have a question about Chevy automatic transmissions: I recently bought my 71 El Camino and found out that the automatic is pulled over (turns from the 1st to the 2nd very hard (shirt kit?), 3rd gear slips as soon as the transmission oil is warm back into the 2nd and at some point it no longer switches into the 3rd) Since the overhaul of the automatic anyway costs from 700 up, I am thinking about whether I should install a 4-speed automatic for fuel savings. Can anyone tell me which 4-speed would fit and how elaborate an installation is? Any help warmly welcome. P.S. machine is a tuned 350er. Cheers

Pickup mess ????!!!!!
Hello together, I would really like to buy a pickup and first of all have the models of Chevrolet in mind. However, I really don’t see what there are for models. 1500, 2500, 3500, S-10 and and and and. What does all this mean? Describe the types the engines or the size of the pickup? Can you explain to me what all this has on it? Maybe you can even recommend one to me. I am looking for a pickup that must be suitable for everyday use. Is there a big pickup with a V6 engine at all? Should it look like an Ami and not like a Toyota or something like that? I think the cars seem so big and huge just great. Would be great if you can give me some tips. THANK YOU MFg JK
