I just got a Smart Cabrio from 2008. It only drove 90,000 and runs great. I found the purchase price of 3,500 reasonable. But unfortunately, something is not right with the circuit. Hello, dear smart fans, I have a 450 Bj. 00 with only one key with this orange middle button. This button has fallen off now and I am getting restless, what happens when the key completely gives up. So I got myself a blank with board, however, the three keys have. According to the info of an acquaintance it still works (and I hope VERY, he is right). Question: Is there someone here who can cheaply learn the new key in the area of Leipzig or Altenburg (Thuringia) or in mobile proximity? Hello, I hope you can help me a little bit. For about a year now I have a Smart 450 of the first series. The previous owner has let the car get quite lost and almost not cared for at all. Now the TÜV is standing at my Smart and I have to ask a few small questions before, e.g. where do you get your spare parts? But it is much more important to me if one of you might know this problem. And I know that the exhaust is completely over and therefore it is very loud. However, the car squeaks when I give gas. I have also made a video that you can watch. At the beginning of the video I have given a few times gas there is not so extreme. In the back part of the video this is then again during the ride, then you hear the noises very clearly. I have now already changed the wedge belt (light machine & climate) maybe I just didn’t tense the belts enough?

Hello guys, I have a problem with my smart. I had two keys, one of which, when the opener was activated, made the warning flashing system blink nine times and the other one didn’t do anything. However, with the one who did nothing, I could unlock the immobilizer and start the car. With the other I could only open the sliding roof. Suddenly I could not unlock the immobilizer with either of the keys anymore. One key remained in such a way that when the opener was activated, one caused a nine-time blinking and with the other key only comes this nine-time blinking when I want to close. I have now connected the car to the star diagnosis and wanted to learn the key, if I have understood everything correctly, then the star diagnosis does not establish a connection to the control unit or the vehicle? Hello, the engine goes off and off from my Smart – now it is once a week. Trying to restart the Smart does not succeed immediately, but only after 10 minutes. Until then every attempt fails. The starter tries to start the engine, but does not start as if there was no fuel in the tank. However, every time I can start the car after about 10 minutes. No error could be read in the Smartfachwerkstatt. The master also added to it only: “The problem we had not yet – no idea!”. Does anyone know this problem? I would like to have a smart since long ago, because it fits well to my requirements, i.e. small, two-seater, automatic and good for city and country trips. Since I have no experience in buying a car, I wanted to ask what you think is a “reasonable purchase price” and how many kilometers the smart should have maximum on it? I will not become a frequent driver, maybe short motorway rides, but no more. Is the higher price of the 451 compared to the 450? I once read that the automatic was improved in 451. My budget is thus 4000-500€, is that realistic?

Now I have found several defects. The Smart is probably leaking, because the footroom on the passenger side is wet. For 2 days now the Smart is jerking when starting up and the engine control light lights throughout. I know that there is no guarantee at the private sale. The dealer or also previous owner does not want to improve of course. However, in the contract is a reference to a property defect liability of 1 year (see picture). Now I need your help. How much you this: is a repair or return according to the contract right? Thank you?

At least that’s what the maintenance book says, starting with a certain engine number … In the course of the last inspection at 88,000km, a mechanic wanted to look at a spark plug, but didn’t get up the screw of the ignition coil. They look really gammelig out … see pictures. At about 6,000km of annual drive I could just drive for two years now, but what do the screws look like then? Or maybe even now prefer the spark plug change? And which candles then take? Again those that hold 100,000km? Or rather which ones that would be due after 40,000km or in my case every 6 years?

Hello forum, the Smart 451 with the tyres VA 155 and HA 175, should get all-weather tires. Since my wife is driving only relatively short distances, I would like to keep a 155er as a spare wheel. I don’t think of these breakdown sets and most of the time she is not so far away that you could not drive with the spare wheel to her. Taking with you would be silly. Now my question: Is it technically possible to drive the 155er for a few kilometers on the rear axle? With my Astra with 245er is also such an emergency bike, which is even narrower than the 155er from the Smart and is allowed. Can anyone say anything about this?
