  • Purchase advice Smart convertible

hello, I am currently planning the change from my mini cooper to a smart cabrio and have various questions: 1. cabrios is available from 2001. since 2004/5 there are nen facelift and these convertibles are directly significantly more expensive. you get also some from 2001/2 with a little km hurt, because often city car etc… there were also important technical changes in addition to the facelioft so that you pay 5k euro instead of 3.5k e.g. approx.? 2. how much does the gasoline cabrio in the see to the diesel? unfortunately I can currently no I don’t guess if I’m still doing 25tkm a year or if I’m getting under 10k fast (by moving). I think tax etc. is also more expensive with the diesel. 3. many old smarts have only 50tkm away although they are almost 10 years old for example. is the smart eigtl. for such short distances “extra” gelget or are such motors certainly not the best then? 4. is it very different to drive a cabrio in the rain or in very cold weather? is there something leaking, colder or windy? r or something in the art? well, in summary I just want to save and cheap cabrio driving I then don’t brew a full cascade anymore, insurance is either way even cheaper, the car loses less value, less consumption etc… but also wants to buy nothing where I then have maintenance without ending. what do you think?

  • Differences in consumption of the F2 Coupe CDI

Hi I’m currently looking for a Smart Fortwo Coupe or Convertible CDI, budget 45.000€. What I noticed: Somehow there is a different factory specification for consumption in each display. There are “total consumption data of 3.0l; 3.1; 3.4 or also 3.8l. I have two 2006 CDI Pure (41PS) on hand, an automatic, a hand switch, both are indicated with 3.8l. So it can’t be on the gearbox?! Can someone tell me which model (pure, pulse, pasion etc.) I should take to be able to Do you drive a lot of roads and even more motorways than the city? Or is the difference only on paper at the end? Btw, should I – especially with regard to longevity – prefer to use a hand switch or automatic? Thank you in advance for your advice!

  • 451er cdi schicken lassen! Recommended??

Since we have been allowed to call a Smart our own since yesterday, we are somewhat concerned about whether we might want to have it chipped. The car is mainly moved by my mother (had already written a Fred a few days ago), but since I will also use it now and again and someone else, just this consideration. Now my real question. Is the 451er 45Ps cdi suitable for a chiptuning?? We are actually also satisfied with the performance, clear he is not a rocket but in the city he is a really good, small flicker and is also fun (especially in the current weather), but a little more it may be. Of course the engine should also perform its service in the long term after the chipping, no desire for a motor damage after 10tkm. If the engine is now suitable for a chip tuning, would the 2nd question be, until how much horsepower could one go, that the engine still remains durable? I thought about 60-65Ps, Is that possible? I mean with 65Ps would certainly push forward properly with the weight! With such a car you can notice almost every multi-Ps. Do you know good manufacturers that offer a serious tuning? Provided it is really worth it. Thank you! Here is another picture of the small one:

  • Reliability of a ForFour??? Petrol or diesel?

Hello, wanted to ask the following question, I wanted to buy a Smart ForFour to start a trip to Europe. That’s why I need an extremely reliable car. I wanted to ask Deshlab how reliable the Smart Forfour is. Which is more reliable? Petrol or diesel? I have heard that the timing belt has to be changed at 70,000 km, which costs more than 1000 EUR. Is that true? Which bigger things are still available at a Smart Forfour? Because I want a Smart Forfour. ufen, who has about 60-70,000 km. Would be happy about your experiences. Thank you Greetings

  • Buying a Smart ForTwo

Hello, I have to buy a used Smart (type 450 MoPf) as a third car. It is a Smart ForTwo Passion with 61hp. The Tridion safety cell is painted in black and the body panels are Star Blue. The Smart is EZ 08/2004 and has about 71,000km down. I would call the condition normal for the year of construction and the KM stand. To the vehicle there are next to the summer tires on original. Smart Alus “Styleline”, still a year old winter tire on Smart steel rims there my question is now whether you can give me some tips on what to pay attention to when buying and how much I can “pay” for the vehicle. Thanks for your help

  • New Smart Brake Problems

Hello all, I’m stunned and hope someone can help me. I picked up a new Smart in Sindelfingen 12 weeks ago. I had the known braking problems with this vehicle. Everything helped nothing, after a long fight I could return the car. The bad thing was that Smart set the tolerances so high that it suddenly said nothing could be done. The Smart would now be in tolerance …… So,now I picked up my new Smart 3 days ago. I could vomit,he is Just as fucked up. Although he no longer pulls to the right or left, the vehicle is so restless when braking I could really vomit. Then I am back to the dealer with 30km on the speedometer. He meant that the braking behavior on this vehicle is more than bad. That would have everyone……. My question is this really so? What can I do?

  • Engine oil control, open engine cover

Who the hell designed this stupid cover of the engine cover in the trunk? Such geniuses disqualify themselves, because instead of following the predecessor model 450, they send an impracticable crap to the road. This great cover has 6 screws with three wings and a 6-edge in the middle, but no cross-slot screwdriver fits in, unless you have a matching one at hand. Of my four, each in various sizes, nobody has fit. Grun d my mood is this: because I know about this mess with the 6 screws, I have not done oil level control for a long time. Now I have put my convertible out of service for this winter, but would know for the next season how it is ordered about the engine oil level. So I first tried with the cross slot screwdrivers – no chance. With the fingers even more not. Then several pliers were used. Handicap: through the three wings of the screw is After a lot of murksen and three-quarters of an hour later I had all 6 screws out. Obviously, during the last inspection the workshop turned the screws in to all abundance with a cordless screwdriver. Now back to the 450. He had a lid with a screw, at the front in the middle, and it had made a quick lock-with the gag on the screw half a turn and the lid was fixed. The question is now: why such a tol The solution to the new 453? Is this the much-quoted progress?

  • Shake at engine start, smart 42, 71 hp

In my 42’s I notice from the beginning a strange behaviour when starting the engine. As long as the starter rotates and the first ignitions start, the engine shakes relatively violently, at least this is unusual for me, since all my other cars have been running very softly. From the impression one could assume one or more engine bearings would be defective. During the further ride no hit or similar occurs. The mechanic of smart, to whom I explained this, would be He sat with me in the car and made several attempts to get started. Before I let the horse tell me something, I first ask here in the round if this is really “normal” and everyone has it.

  • Smart guarantee package

Hello dear friends of the new Smartie’s (453), I advise you all from my own experience to extend the warranty after expiry of the factory warranty for 339,- (further 2 years). Well, why? I was with my Smart at MB and had the second inspection done and then had massive oil loss – the oil came from the crankshaft ventilation hole in not insignificant quantity, i.e. 35 km driven and about 1 liter of oil away. Therefore the engine looked really creepy… After the mechanics on site s o how the engineers in Stuttgart had thought for a long time how that could be, Stuttgart came with the advice around the corner that Argregat (engine) would have a capital damage and this would have to be exchanged – Mmmmh, with a mileage of original 32,500 km (!!!) a motor damage is also not bad, right? In short because I had bought the warranty extension for 339,- short run of the factory warranty, there was not only for the time of the failure a free car rental but also ch a completely NEW engine including the installation and installation… In other words, the smartie runs again and automatically is of course 2 years new warranty on the new engine. According to the advertising slogan: “My dad paid nothing for it…” Now everyone here is clear why I guess about the warranty package, right??? Does not save at the wrong end – otherwise this could be quite real TEUER !

  • NAVI Update Version Status

Hello and hello God from Munich, as a new owner of a Smart I would have a question here in the forum. In the operating manual it says that you can download online the latest map material (free of charge up to 3 months after purchase of the Smart). The navigation data in the new Smart are currently ancient. Here in the environment roundabouts have been finished for 3 years, which the Navi still does not know. Now I wanted to play an update. In the TomTom Smart Connect software he tells me that I have the update and 09.90 What is the current TomTom stand? On the website I see: 10.15 from August 2018 I get to it, in the Smart Connect, when I go on card material, he wants to have an activation code from me. We the included, where does it stand? Otherwise I only see that in the overview is that my Smart Connect incl. card material is up-to-date. Would be happy if someone can help me. Thank you Stefan
