  • Smart 451 does not start, no gear indicator, OBD without function

    Hello dear Moto-Talk community, I am Felix and drive a Smart 451 CDI 2008 convertible. I need your help please. I received his used cruise control from a friend. I installed this one today (reinforcement kit Misterdotcom). Everything like in the original guide wired. Foot switch, tacho, steering wheel switch. When I wanted to start the vehicle, it unfortunately didn’t start any more. Then I jammed the battery for 5 minutes, unfortunately without success. So everything was built back on original. Then the shock…it still didn’t start. Then I wanted to read out the error, but my OBD interface no longer sends any data (voltage is on, can connect myself via Wlan, but get no access to the control units). The switches for my cover also have no function (on/to) either. Only with the key I could open the cover yet but unfortunately not close it. The gear indicator is also no longer visible in the display. I have the fear that I somehow destroyed a control device. If I put the back light on the display, I have no idea in the back light.

  • Roadster engine fan rotates all the time.

    Hello dear community, my smart, where the cooler is constantly running… I’m a bit perplexed by what that can be. I don’t have a circuit diagram either. But the fan rotates continuously until you plug it off. So it runs even if the ignition is off. Someone’s an idea? I once disconnected the control unit didn’t bring any success. Safety plugs off the same effect as the fan plugs off. But interesting was that the same fuse is also responsible for the rear window heater which was not on or got warm… I found only one circuit diagram in the net.   • Smart 451 MHD, problems when starting when waiting less than 10min

    Hello, we’ve been having a problem with our Smart for a long time. Nothing could be found in a free workshop in the error memory. So to the problem. In the morning off into the Smart, everything starts normally. If you then stop after a few minutes drive, turn off the car (to the baker goes less than 10min ) and again to the Smart it doesn’t start. However, you can clearly hear that he tries to start turning the key for 1/2 second. After that, when the key is turned over again, no more starter comes up. So no starter spins. Then you wait 10min+ about again. Yesterday evening, however, on the parking lot at ikea he didn’t jump anymore even after 20min. Then he tried to start the battery jammed down 10min waiting to start again, no muks again! And 3 strokes in the display. So with ignition then inserted R, then switched to 1 and 2 and then on A and then the 3 strokes disappeared and the car started directly. But he never showed up the three strokes before. So the 3 strokes a fault from the gear/connector starts. And then there was no problem.

    Hello, we have an engine damage at our 2012 Smart 451 cdi 54ps pulse 200000 km. The exhaust cooler has become leaky and water has come into the combustion room, now oil gets into the combustion. Actually, I had already written it on but now I ask myself if it would not make sense to have the engine replaced. We have been very spoiled by the small one. The only defect we had at about 80000km running power, the water cooler. Otherwise he has not seen a workshop, oil and brakes change myself. I do not count wild accidents. It will probably cost 4000 euros, with a few attachments. Certainly everyone has to decide this themselves, but I do it hard and would be grateful for a couple of opinions.

  • Roadster/Coupé: door locking jumps on its own again

    Hello expert, I can buy from an acquaintance whose coupé (EZ 09/2003, 82 hp, manual circuit). Only known problem is that after a few seconds the doors will unlock themselves again, if you have locked up before. Perhaps some microswitch/sensor/actuator is broken at a lock.
