Hello dear community members, one already before away, I am ONLY a hobby screwdriver and do not know me particularly well with cars / Smart out ?? My problem is the following, I drive a Smart 451 Turbo, year 2007 with 84 HP (officially ??) with a end pot with which the cat was still integrated. ….and now my real problem: These end pots are used as good as not to get because this kind of end pot was broken very often, be it by rust, on burst sweat seams or simply by that the inside cat has solved itself ?? And now my question: is it possible to replace this kind of end pot with a pot with external cat ? If yes, the possibly high conversion effort is worthwhile ? It is just so that there are very many, well used end pots with ext. Kat on the net there is however as well as no used pot with integrated Kat there. I would be really grateful for you for usable information . And still what to end, it could be in the past that the topic was already a forum but I did not have a lot to attend here.

Smart for 1000 euros ?
Hi, since I start my training from August and therefore drive 60km a day, I thought about how to get to work as cheaply as possible. Since I only have a budget between 1000-1500 euros, the selection is limited. Now the choice between a small car with LPG or just a Smart Diesel remained with me. In the focus is definitely the Smart, because I would rather drive it than e.g. a Corsa. In the net there is already the Smart with 41 hp from 700 euros. Is it recommended to buy a smart with relatively high mileage or. What must one pay attention above all with this model? As I have heard the Diesel engines should be relatively robust. In addition, one saves itself also a lot, if one has an extra fine dust particle filter installed. How much would such a cost, if I get none of the one already installed? with friendly regards, Michi

Loss of performance
Have a huge problem with my Smart fortwo Built. 2000 / 110500 km and don’t know any RAT anymore. Top speed 80 km/h and hardly a suit. I changed all 6 spark plugs. Sounds from the engine OK. also runs quiet. ADAC was on site and has read out control unit. No errors. Turbocharger works, various values in the green area. ONLY air/split supply ??? too low if I understood it correctly. He meant it can only be the suction tube pressure sensor, or the air mass meter. Wanted to order the parts at SC, whereby my BENZINER has no air mass meter. EGAL !!!. Can someone help me further, am RATLOS. Which part is now advisable to replace. Mfg SILAM…. PS. Stems from the Westgate is connected and can be moved well. Have suck/blasted at the rear partial load valve, lets me suck and blow through (can also have something to do with it)?

Smart gasoline is not getting warm..
Hello together, I have with my Smart (small engine) the problem that it just does not get warm. Once the indicator for the cooling water temperature goes up after 30 km overland but also only to the second point, and after motorway rides it goes back from the third point to the second point. Not to mention the cold that comes from the ventilation… What can that be? Maybe the thermostat is defective? Has anyone already experienced this problem?

Smart Fortwo suitable wheel/tire combination?
Hello, I have recently called a Smart ForTwo Cabrio my own. It stands on the front: 145/65/R15(Maxxis all-year tire) rear: 175/55/R15(Maxxis all-year tire) and drives cruelly. It pushes like sow over the front wheels and is always slipping when braking. Since I don’t really think of all-year tires, I would like to have very good winter tires including matching rims now. Through the search I have already found some information, which is not sufficient for me as a Smart newcomer, however, because there is always talk of 175 and 195. Sometimes the 195 with 50s height and sometimes not, then one reads something about 195/45/15…. The rims of 451 seem to not to fit because of the ET, but it should also be with track widenings here. :S Can’t even be so nice to one of them and make a complete listing, which wheel/tire combis fit on the 450s. From me also with indication of the corresponding lane widths. I would like to have a ride on the front axle or the best of the front axle. I would like to be happy.

Sudden loss of performance !?!?
hallihallo smartgemeinde, I already found out for my smart cdi bj 2010 the second time that he suddenly no longer took gas and became slower and slower. the latter time on the autobahn, where I drove full throttle and all of a sudden the power from now on was no longer given. suddenly the tachopin went back from 150 to approx. 90 km/h. if you pick up, restarts, runs again perfectly. can someone dissolve this rattle?? what can that be??

450 gears/switching test
moinsens, the following problem: after engine change, the gearbox switches only up to 2nd gear, after inserting it into the third knarrt as if the coupling does not separate correctly, in automatic mode come immediately after switching attempt into the third the three bars in the display. restart is immediately possible. it is a cdi, bj. 2003, 450 cabrio, running power 220tsdkm, dispenser motor comes from nem 2000 cdi with 150tsdkm. gear oil has already changed, was black and smells burned. my question, can it lie on the clutch disc? it switches through 2 lanes and backward gear cleanly. must ask tomorrow if the clutch disc has remained on the motor, in addition my question, are the discs identical or has there been a change? thank you for your answer.

The starting point: I commute 90km daily (back and forth), 90% expressway, limited to 80km/h. Often also traffic jams or stop and go. As a current vehicle I have a Passat Built 2007 TDI with 200,000km. From 2019 I can no longer go to Stuttgart. A large vehicle is mandatory due to family. Since a new EURO 6 diesel is currently simply too expensive for me, I think about keeping my passat and in addition to get a smart petrol truck to the office. (second model series). What do you mean? Does it make sense? What are recommended engine variants? How high is the fuel build? What is the cost of the smart in tax and insurance?

Motor does not start “X” in the display
Hello municipality, only a short time ago from a friend got a 450 Bj. 99, 40kW petrol with only 32-kilometres. So I am still absolute beginner. Unfortunately I have repeatedly the problem that is shown in the display a „X. One starts then no more. I checked the backup box under the seat as well as the ZEE under the dashboard, cleaned contacts and fuses checked. All relays from another 450. Unfortunately no reproducible error found. The one day he does not run the next again. I already asked in other forums but unfortunately still did not get the hint. Maybe here someone can give me a hint what I can still do. (The free workshop in front of my front door has already deleted the sails). VG JB
