    Hi, I recently bought a Smart 453 Forfour built in 2015 with automatic air conditioning. I tested the air conditioning for cooling before buying it and was of the opinion that it was cool. However, the vehicle was in the underground garage where it is already a bit cooler anyway…. 2-3 days later, when I was on the road (outside temperature about 16-18 degrees) I had the feeling that there was not really cold/cool air coming out of the system. Also not on the coldest level with maximum air output strength. Lieg t it is true that it is not so hot/hot outside in October, that the air conditioner therefore does not bring proper cooling power ? Or do I just have a defect in the system somewhere? Can someone tell me something about it? Even if you had a defective at the system, I was happy to know what the problem was. Vllt has a typical flaw or something. I thank you already

  • Smart 453 ForTwo 0.9 90PS Turbo for short distances?

    Hi, I’m looking for a Smart ForTwo 453. The car is supposed to be my main car. At the moment I’m still driving Avensis station wagon, but I don’t need it anymore. Drive mostly alone with empty car. Luggage or purchases in the passenger seat. I live in the middle of the big city and just can’t find parking spaces, so I’ve always driven vacuum cleaners from Japan, so the purchase of the Smart is quite a change. m what I have read, it should be a 0.9 turbo with 90hp and automatic, because the 71hp sucker should be very lame. I have a few questions to the connoisseurs: I drive a lot of short distance (e.g. 4km in one direction). In the year until now so 10-12.000km, think that will no longer be, rather less. Are such short distances a turbomotor killer? One often reads that the car is coldly jerking and badly switches, it is perhaps just the wrong car for short distance and I should the 1.0 S I would like to have the Turbo because it is my only car as described above and I also want to do 500km or even 1000km one way with it or on the country road where it goes a bit up and down. Somewhere in the Smart 453 forum I read that until 2017 parts of the Turbo (Wastegate?) were badly chosen by Daimler and therefore the vintages should be avoided. Is that correct? I look for car with checkbook, are there models from 2017 or earlier also tab u? Something like that would have to be noticed and fixed by now? Just like the jerking in cold cars, right? Basically, a car doesn’t scare me off because it has (almost) 10 years on the hump. But don’t know whether smarts (or turbos in general) with good care also hold as e.g. the old Japanese. What equipment do you advise? Currently I have the climate automatic, correct glove compartment and the height adjustable seat, in addition to motor / gearboxes, on the must-have list. I’m still traumatized by the gutter in 451. Are models with a panoramic roof louder on the highway? Thank you very much for the help! I’m not sure if there are any more cars with a large 16 or even 17 or 17 rims and the sports package.

When I look at pictures of deeper Smart’s in the net I always think: they are not lower at the front… Bilstein’s coilover suspension is only 30mm at the rear. At least according to the sides that drive the chassis. Now I have taken measurements. I measured the wheelwheel at the front 9 cm and at the rear 13.5 cm from the wheelwheel to the rim horn. I know the measure is different at 15 or 17 inches, but that can be calculated out. Well, my request: Could someone take a look at themselves? Maybe at series and with a lowering? That would be the hammer. That’s what it looks like right now.

  • Error memory with following errors, need help.

    Hello guys, have these two errors in the error memory. To the first error P0018. I checked the oil magnet switch for function, it works perfectly. Behind the sieve made out and cleaned. A new NW sensor installed. The symtoms are, it starts perfectly, but then does not accept gas. If I want to go off, the engine almost goes off. I asked at my free workshop, he meant it was the control chain or the adjuster at the intake cams I don’t know anything about the second mistake 4047, I didn’t find anything useful either.

  • Smart 451 loses gear position from time to time

    Hi, I drive a Smart 451 1.0 Turbo. If I go to the small one, this loses the gear position from time to time. After I do a manual reset, the Smart is in the gear emergency, I can only use gear 2.3 and 4 and that is not so right. The funny thing is, if I do a basic setting with the tester, it works again for a few days, but then again three beams and the gear position is gone. In the FS there is only one CAN error C1323. I hope one of you can give me a hint.

  • Door lock too weak, is there anything stronger?

    If I park with my 451 in the garden, the doors will not remain open because I live on a mountain. So depending on how I park, at least because of the slope, a door will not remain open by itself. Will the door arresters become weaker over time or would that be the case with new detectors? Is it possible to increase the holding force of the detector somehow? Sometimes I clamp a piece of firewood in order to keep the door open when I have to do something in the footroom, but that’s annoying.

  • Climate does not cool after service

    Hello dear Smart 454 drivers and screwdrivers. I had the climate service done at ATU. You did the sevice, so everything has to be io. But unfortunately the climate doesn’t get cold, the climate switch lights up. Wouldn’t have had to notice this with the climate service if the climate doesn’t cool? How can I check if the climate compressor is running? Have the smart only since 2024 and don’t know me so well from where the compressor sits with the 3 cylinders.

  • smart at 200 on my bumper

    Hello together I picked up my new wheels for my smart yesterday(Brabus 195 round around) for this reason I drove with my electric class there so on the track easy with 160,until suddenly a wise 451 was behind me and blinked!! so I was on the gas up to 200 there was the guy still behind me! so what the devil was that? he was extremely deep and wide and so fast,I had to speed up to 220 so I got away from him my brother has a brabus the läut 170, so there must have been more done?   • Software Update Gearbox?

    Hello guys, I bought a 451 last week, with 71hp engine, without MHD, EZ 11/07. But I did test drive with an MHD, EZ 01/09. Now I notice that my in automatic mode switches up a whole corner later. Mine only switches to the fourth at about 60, where the from the test drive has already done at about 45. Has there been a software update over time, which I could also play on my own? Oh yes, consumption: Exactly 6 liters. mo quite unfavorable track profile: Cold driving, immediately 4km a serpentine-like track uphill, about 4km. When I am up, it is warm, then it goes down 3km, and there it is again cold and then only city traffic and the same back. For that I am quite satisfied with the consumption.
