Good day together, I’m thinking of buying a Smart ForTwo (no MHD) with 71 hp and 129,000 km. Today I drove a great smart sample, only the engine sounded a bit strange and knocked. Hi ́ Be careful to change the thermostat with my CDI because even at +8 degrees I have to drive the car continuously over 120 km/h to briefly see the 3 egg in the display I hardly drive slower already it disappears again. I myself drive the 451 turbo with 84hp year 2007 (automatic) and now had to find out several times that after a fast drive with kickdown and switch in the high speed range, the gears in the following are really beaten in. Even the start is gently not possible anymore. The situation then stops about a day and then disappeared without a trace. Several smart drivers in my vicinity have already confirmed this and think this is completely normal. Unfortunately, I can’t believe that because you want to torture the little bit. In the net I found already information that the switch actuator has about 15 stored fields for different driving modes. Now it can be, according to my thought, that after a fast drive in a certain “sport mode” is fixed and not so fast from there. Now I ask myself if this is actually so normal? Maybe a few smart friends can tell me their own experience here?

Hello, I have a lot of clips of the trunk coverings broken, I would like to replace them. At Amazon, Ebay,… did I find cheap sets with various clips, would I have something suitable with them? Bzw. are the special clips of Smart/Mercedes or are the clips that are also used in other vehicles in large quantities? Didn’t count it yet, but I would probably renew all of them immediately, because after I have taken off the claddings others would probably break and would not be left anyway.

Hello together, I am now wondering in these cold days whether my battery is slowly giving up the mind, and if I should replace it before it completely gives up the mind. I drive a Smart 451, gasoline MHD with 71PS, BJ 08/2009, which I have had since August 14. Now you could assume, because of the age, that the battery is slow at the end, but I don’t know if it has been changed at the previous owner. However, I notice that with the MHD function, where the car goes out at the traffic light, at the start of the engine, at once the radio is muted briefly and for a short moment the battery light is lit in the display. Also, the Eco display shows already after short stop intervals “orange” and only jumps late again to green. I have to say that in this scenario at the stop the headlights, the radio and also the heating fan are switched on (on stage 2) and therefore at the stop of course also consume more energy than in the bright summer months, where then the radio light is not quiet at the day, but the battery is mostly quiet at the start.

What is your assessment of the market value of the vehicle? The usual used car exchanges only reflect the desired prices, which are probably corrected downwards when selling. Good day, for more than ten years I own a Smart 451 (71PS) MHD. Slowly certain larger repairs have to be made. Unfortunately, I notice increasingly that even the contract workshop in the enthusiasm for older smarts is greatly diminished and my confidence in the delivered performance is no longer given. Therefore my question: Which workshop in the Lüdenscheid / Hagen / Dortmund / Märkischer Kreis is recommended. I am primarily concerned about professional and skilled work. Thanks for the feedback.

Help, who has a tip for me. My convertible deck (Smart 05/05) doesn’t snap in the back left (back hook). Although the cover is pulled forward, it no longer closes completely. In the Berlin Smartwerkstatt you have now hourly new horror reports for me. First allegedly the rear hook was broken, now the complete cassette has to be renewed??. A glider is (probably broken because of crooked drawing). The costs should now move already at approx. 1.000 EUR. What can it be that the right hook closes and the left one doesn’t. Is this just due to the adjustment or is there really a more greeting part to break. I have no confidence to the workshop. I assume that the installer has never taken such a cover apart – and I can now pay for his teaching lessons.
