Hello expert, I can buy from an acquaintance whose coupé (EZ 09/2003, 82 hp, manual circuit). Only known problem is that after a few seconds the doors will unlock themselves again, if you have locked up before. Perhaps some microswitch/sensor/actuator is broken at a lock. Can it be easily found and repaired by the (technically experienced) user or will it be an expensive workshop”fun”? Sometimes there are so’n typical “standard errors” in technical things, the connoisseur already from afar by the symptoms…. Thanks for your opinions!

Water in the trunk!
After today’s heavy rain in the parking lot, I noticed after work that smaller puddles had accumulated water on the trunk shelf, although the trunk was properly locked all the time and the smart does not have any leaks at all. These few water drops on the rack do not bother me any further, but I rather worry about what could happen if it rains really hard. Is that normal that there is a bit of a run in there or not – and if not, what can I do about it?

Hello together I’m new to this forum… and I wanted to ask you something… I need a small economical car… I’ve only looked at Smart Fortwo so far… So my question for you is the Smart Fortwo Diesel reliable? Is it stable? Is it good to drive…? Do you have more experience for me? And what is the difference between cdi and mhd and which of them is better? Good day, My girlfriend has been using a smart for a week (Fortwo Coupe mhd,71 ps, ez 2008) It is her first smart and got from the car dealership again new tüv and complete check. To my question: when she turns off the car, she inserts the reverse gear and pulls the handbrake. If she wants to start again, she inserts the key. Ignition, sets from R to N to start the engine (when of course brake kicked). And at that moment he jerks, as if she had choked the engine. But then it can be started without any problems. Is this normal?

Despite reverse gear and handbrake: Smart roll in hedge!
Hello, in spite of the inserted reverse gear and the handbrake, our smart has rolled into a hedge. The car was parked around 4.30 pm, according to our neighbours it was still there around 20.30. An hour later our neighbors ringed and informed us that the smart is in the hedge. That is absolutely inexplicable to us. My wife parked the car and I checked directly after the accident that the reverse gear was inserted and also the handbrake was put on. Has anyone perhaps experienced something similar? VG

Reverse does not go in – error message “-6”
For some time now I’ve had the problem that the reverse gear can’t be used again and again. In the last year it happened again and again, but irregularly. I was able to limit the problem to a certain angle, I said I could put myself in a certain place, which was not very flat, where I got 5x in a row the problem and if I tried it 10 meters further on the straight road again, it worked again. So I assumed that it could be due to a fluid, because otherwise a inclination on the vehicle should have hardly any influence. So times the gear oil changed and actually the problem over now did not occur again. Not a single time. For a few months now it piles up again. In addition, I also have a flashing tool key in the display and for the first time also an error message “-6”. That I did not yet see yet again. The problem then accumulates again and now very often occurs. Maybe still another observation – if the engine does not run, can not be quickly changed the gears, which is not heard at all times and then the problem is not shown again.

Smart 450 – Three bars in the display, gears don’t go in
Moin. Did my girlfriend’s Smart 450 City Coupe (petrol, automatic) change coolant yesterday. Also ventilated at the back of the thermostat. Folded wonderfully. Today I wanted to drive him out of the garage and he makes a regular surren/rumbling at the back, like the attempt to insert the gear or so.. Always appear in rhythm.. to 3 bars in the display. Without running engine with only switched on ignition, it seems to be backwards and 1. gear insert. If the engine is running, it does not work. After some research, I hit on actuator etc. as a possible source of error. After a tip I often read a little bit further pushed to shock. It was vlt 2-3mm. No improvement unfortunately. I mean, that can also be rather improbably broken in the stand / worn out.. Cable breakage? Nässen while ventilating at the back of the thermostat? Has already come out well.
