Hello together, I bought a used Smart 451 two years ago. A key is now very badly damaged and I decided to have a new one made. When I called the workshop and asked for the costs, I was told that I had to pay about 200 euros for the key and 50 euros for the learning. The day before yesterday I was personally in the workshop to order the key and was quite surprised when I was told that I needed an appointment so that my “car should be read out”. Now I ask myself as an absolute car layman: Is it necessary that a car be read out to order a new key and if so, what does the reading cost? I thank you already in advance Sandra

Smart 451 cdi Bj2007 Power loss
Hello together, I have a problem with my smart, has power loss while driving. Suddenly gets slow and nothing goes more. Grade no more than 30 km/h. No more gas on either automatic or by switching down via Tiptronic. Motor light does not work. Have now read out the error memory itself with interface of car soft müller. Shows now P0238: Turbocharger charging sensor A circuit too high. What could that be? Drive daily highway 32 km one way. Particle filter too? Greeting Dirk

Steering wheel cover leather
My 451er Passion is supposed to have a leather steering wheel .. but the part is probably only located next to a leather shred feels like plastic! Now there are a lot of nice steering wheel covers made of genuine leather. Would like to pull this over the steering wheel but all the accessories found so far only fit from 37 cm diameter. A short measurement in the smartie returned 35.5 cm someone has a tip where there are suitable covers?

451 mhd chipped from 61 to 81 hp
Hi! Yesterday I had the mhd equipped with an automatic and a chip tuning. I first had the 61 HP (sauger) and after what I had read, the difference would not be SOO violent…. But I wanted to have the automatic switching program (softtouch) already. On site I decided to take the tuning with me in Düsseldorf at MrDotcom. I have NO idea how much PS or speed I have now, but it is a difference like day and night. It now goes off like “Schmidt’s cat”, no comparison to before. Let’s see how long it lasts. I am now no “kickdown driver” but “below” goes much more than before. I am glad that I made it anyway. Gurtwarner and V-Max restriction are also out, whereby I did not want to try out the latter yesterday in full measure, at 150 km/h (GPS) I stopped, until 160 he would have probably gone, but that is neither useful nor advisable. The highway is simply not my little district for Christian Flitzler.

ForTwo, strong scratching of the clutch
Hello Smart-Gemeinde I drive an F2, JG 01, petrol with 52tkm. Until now always complaintless and without the smallest problem. I carry out the maintenance myself. Now, however, I have the problem since approx. 3tkm, that when the engine is hot, the clutch rubs and pulls very strongly when starting up. The warmer the car, the worse it gets. Very bad it is then to drive on a mountain. Since almost shakes you out of the seat. In cold condition everything is like new. No rubbing and even nix. Now my question: -What is the problem? Is it known? Does ev. help a new learning of the coupling? Is ev. the surface already worn out? What about the crankshaftsimmer? Thanks for your help and greeting Wolfgang

Smart Fortwo from 2010 – Tips for used car purchase
Hello smart community, some years ago my wife and I sold both cars (golf, Audi) and have been driving an Audi A4 B8 together since then. This works quite well (although it is actually too impractical/unhandling and we hardly make long journeys) because I often get a service car and also have good public transport connections and use. However, for professional reasons I will soon be working at home more often (oh. service car), nevertheless would like to stay more flexible than with ÖPNV (just to the hardware store, to chew in,…). Ford Ka etc. also likes quite well but SMART has something that is not so “cheap” over like usual small cars. Actually I am now online plenty of dealer deals for the 71PS mhd (though it would be a diesel) from 2010/2011 for (from) 800€ to be found, which are often very similar equipped (glass roof, climate etc.). Actually, because of the higher torque I can thank Diesel friend for the price and rest of running, the compromises would be worth doing with the smart. Although there are some things to avoid.

Operating temperature???
Hello, in our family there is a Smart foer two. The car is just great as I think it is. It is a gasoline with 61 Ps (if I know it correctly). Only there is one thing that does not really make the car fun of driving in the weather. And indeed, the car just does not get really warm around the season. Even after distances of about 10 – 15 km it reaches only two strokes at the heat indicator. So in short it does not come to 80 °C. I have already heard that it can be due to the termostat however I do not know where exactly it is, or whether it actually is because of it. Would it be great if someone could help me further, if possible with pictures.

Increase Smart cdi 450 Charging Pressure
Hello, has anyone ever tried to increase the charging pressure over the control rod of the turbo? I have only read so far that it is done via software or chip tuning and I would be interested if it only brings the pressure of the loader from 0.8bar to say let’s screw up 1.2-1,4bar. gruss Matthias

mkl is on
Hello, with my smart it is mkl on. The smart is year 2007 with 71 ps. Was with smart and I was told the mixture is too lean, error memory deleted but the mkl has returned after 2 hours. Does anyone know what that is?
