Hello, I have a serious concern. From the boxes of my 451er comes for a few months shortly after you have driven some KM a seahhr loud deep hum and you don’t understand his own word anymore. The hum can’t be controlled by the volume on the radio. Only a turn off of the radio (Smart Radio 9) had achieved success so far or you had to wait about 3-5 minutes and it disappeared by itself. In the meantime I switched the original Radio 9 and the original Smart Boxes against a Kenwood DMX 7017 DABS and 2 new Boxes of AudioSystem, but no improvement in sight. The low frequency hum is still there, motor turn on, some KM driven and there it is for 3 – 5 minutes –> Ergo : on the radio and the Boxes it wasn’t defensively, and a high frequency LIMA whistle is not there either. Who has the same problem and could give a tip here, possibly a mass problem ? Am zt. vertlichratlos what it could be?

451 1.0 Spring Exchange Images
Hello, has someone from you already had the springs changed at the Smart 451 1.0 and has pictures of it? I had all the springs and dampers changed at the 451 1.0 71PS suction cup (EZ2008). Was not it necessary to change everything but a new chassis, because I liked to drive with the dwarf and he poltert in bad road conditions (I know, is typically tight the cube, but nevertheless). I had chosen Eibach ERL springs and Bilstein B4 dampers. When the parts arrived, I unpacked all the parts and checked the items (e.g. R10145) because I had bought them in the net/ebay and had to be careful there. Anyway, the Smart is now quite high. I did not want the Eibach lowering springs, because they had to be registered and secondly my mother also drives with the car now and again. The ERL springs serve according to Eibach as a standard replacement. Clearly, they will still be set up, but as if the height springs were fitted, they would have to be used properly.

Smart 450 CDI Year 2006 Rust discovered, what exactly to do?
Hello, I bought a Smart CDI at 2 years of age TÜV. Rather as a transitional car, it was not really expensive, 2700 euros with new TÜV. The car has already drained several thousand KM and never a problem. So it was totally worthwhile for the money. But in the interior I discovered rust. The rust is inside in the windshield in the middle, that comes out through the seal, but it is absolutely everything tight. It is not dramatic, but what to do? Thanks and greetings.

Reverse does not go in
Hello I’m standing in a parking space and I can’t get out, because the reverse is not going in. I had the problem 3 times before. however, it was always like that until today, that it went off/one again after the engine. however, if I think about it, I had to switch on/off more and more often, until the reverse is wanted again. I was therefore already 3-4x at the workshop. they have then allegedly made a software update and then went again for a while good. the last time not even 3 months ago. now the part is soon 6 years old and I fear that a software update will soon not be enough. has a clue about what this could be about? of course nothing. or what would be worse – they actually don’t know. the car has run 42,000km. Smart Brabus.

451 – Reverse does not go in
Hello Together, have a 451, 85hp, built in 2007 with approx. 71TKm. Now the reverse gear does not go in with running engine any more. Error code P0805. Everything is running forward. I looked at the posts here in the forum. I initially suspected the actuator and dismantled it and opened it. Looks like everything is fine. So screwed up again. Because the smart was standing on ramps, I put the ignition on the reverse gear. “R” also lights up. After easy release of the handbrake I noticed that the smart doesn’t roll down and therefore the R-speed should actually be in it. Is there another sensor that could block the insertion of the running motor? With running engine it sounds like if you want to insert R, as if a mechanism is surging and something is not coming to an end. Does someone have an idea that I can still test and what could possibly be responsible for the error except a worn-out clutch? Many thanks for your feedback already in advance.

All lights flash when switched off
Hello together, write here for the first time. And I hope that I can explain my request as well as possible. Yesterday I installed a super great new car radio with camera and microphone. I had to turn on the ignition a couple of times for the test. Everything worked great, but at the last switch off all lights in the interior and the front lights all start to flash very quickly. Approximately 5-10 times all control lights + warning lights, just everyone, without exception. Thought first of all that was a signal that the battery is slowly empty, but now drove around about 1.10 hours to charge the battery. Unfortunately without success. I am at a loss. I did not make any changes on the car electronics but only all pins of the car radio plug adapted to the smart and that was. Need urgently your help. Don’t know if this is a first-time problem. I thank you.

Smart 451/4 daytime running light
Hello, we’ve just added a new smartie (451/4 Coupe) and I have a question like this: I don’t get the daytime driving light activated, someone knows about it? So: Currently the LED daytime driving light is not available (it probably only comes from mid-January 2011), so we didn’t order it. We also don’t have fog lights, but the light/rain control. Thus, you have four positions in the light: light off, parking light on and car. On “car” it makes light in rain and darkness, but not always. On “light on” the light is naturally on, but it is piept if you want to turn off the car. What I would like to do is that the light is simply switched on and off with the ignition. According to the manual, there is an extra “day driving light” where you don’t have it, with light horn and key lock still won’t have to turn off the function. That didn’t work for me even though I had the door open (see here).

Smart 451 from 110 Km/h Gear failure
Tomorrow, everyone bought me a Smart 451, which had a defective clutch/actuator when they bought it. Both were renewed by Sachs spare parts. The switching actuator and the new clutch were both learned and adjusted with a tester. The Smart runs so well. Only I have the problem that if I reach a speed of 110 KMH, no acceleration is possible any more, it feels like the clutch is slipping. That’s how long it takes until the big A and two wrenches start flashing in the gear indicator. After that it is no longer possible to turn on into the fifth gear. The Smart was yesterday also with Mercedes and got a new gearbox software. Unfortunately in vain! Does anyone of you know, or do I really have to buy a new gearbox?

Smart up to how much km? What do you pay attention to when buying?
Good day, I would like to buy my first car (automatic) with a small budget soon. I would like to have a smart for the city, but I don’t know exactly what I have to pay attention to, except that it should be taken care of by cheques? I think my budget is at a maximum of €3,000, it will be the 450. I have looked at eBay classified ads, mobile de, and autoscooter, but I’m always skeptical because I’m afraid to be pulled over the table. Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone who knows about cars well. From what kilometer is no smart any more? And what price is still justified? I see many smarts 450 with 90.000+ km for 2,500€, is worth it? With private providers there is never enough information, and also many online dealers without check booklets indication. If you think that it’s not worth it for the number / price, I’m also grateful about cheap suggestions about other car models.
