  • Recall action due to braking problems

Hello VOLVO-Freunde, text of a press release: “The Swedish car manufacturer Volvo calls back about 9,000 vehicles of the C30, S40, V50, C70, V70 and S80 series worldwide with 2.0-litre diesel engine – all model year 2009 – due to braking problems in the contract workshops.” I think I don’t hear right! Callback action on models that are already at least 4-5 years on the market? Normally the models are mature and reliable after approx. 2 years. . 2008 to March 2009! How is this possible? Is VOLVO also – as with many other manufacturers – using the “sparstick” in the running model series to increase profit margins “more cost-effective = more shareholder friendly”? And that without informing the public/customers? If I buy a VOLVO today, then I expect the tested and tested stand + possibly improvements to the model year, but not a “lowcosts version”.

  • How do you clean your Volvo?

Evening! After having spent the whole day wiening my C30 and growing at the same time or afterwards, I ask you: How do you clean your Volvo? Is it enough for you “Once a base program in the wash road at the tank” or do you have a “obligatory program”? I start with: At least every 2 weeks my C30 goes through the tested by me with foreign cars () and according to my feeling astreine textile wash road in Brinkum (near Bremen). rims are dried by hand and all water drops are removed. At the same time, the interior is completely sucked out and the windows are cleaned both inside and outside. Headlights and rear lights are also treated separately with glass cleaner (to wipe the wax from the washing line). Every 4 weeks wax is waxed. Then with Nigrin hard wax polish (to maintain the shine) or with a wax only spraying on (e.g. minute wax from Nigrin – no, i Between washing in the wash road and polish there are 20 km – with a maximum of 50 km/h How good that there are also main roads, where you can drive between two villages only 50. Finally, the interior is completely destroyed. All receipts from the gas stations etc. as well as unreachable areas, where a vacuum cleaner does not come in, blow out with compressed air. Then the car from inside and outside is as new as the tailpipe with Never-Du Rub it in and wipe it off: FERTIG! So, what does your washing program look like?

  • The perfect Volvo

Hello MT’ler as a cared-for Volvo driver I am of course always interested in the latest developments. Recently I am thinking about how my next Volvo should be. My wishes: C30 with new front (similar to C70 Facelift or S60 Concept) Drive version (so very economical – consumption approx. 4.5 Ltr) Powershift transmission petrol directly injection with turbo – size order 1.6 to 1.8 Ltr. power so around the 120 – 140 HP inside very quiet – to a noise level as in my The current XC70 T6 has 4-C suspension (stages from very comfortable to sporty) all interior rather on luxurious trim (leather, wood, navigation, premium sound etc.) I know a lot about it already exists today, but not in this combination. In short, I want a small car with the comfort of a luxury limousine and the consumption of a commercial car. Will there possibly be such a thing? Up to now, you had to drive always big cars for superior comfort. How would your perfect Volvo look if you could build it yourself?

  • Nürburgring 2009

Today the 24h action starts again in the green hell of the Nürburgring. After a heavy conversion this is the first (designable ) race this season. And also a Volvo is in again, again from Heico sporty. The start number 79 carries a C30 T5 with bioethanol lighting. In the class SP 4T (2000-2500ccm) a total of 5 teams start. So the C30 drives directly against 2 Ford Focus and 2 Ford Mondeo. If possible, I will do the whole thing in the live stream or in the Newsticker… (the DSF) The start of the race is as always at 4 p.m. (introduction round starts at 15:40). The DSF is there from 14:45, the live stream of sportauto-online.de from 3 p.m. Greeting Markus … with Couch Benzin in the blood…

  • Forum names and subforum for 3xx and 4XX??

I know we’ve had the topic before. But time and again, we have requests for the 3xx and 4XX series here in the main forum. I don’t really like the fact that we have these series-specific requests in the general main forum. Therefore, I would like to have a subforum set up. I would also like to postpone the contributions from the main forum……. Can anyone warm up for it? I do a survey that runs for 30 days Attention: I don’t want to discuss further forums here. I’m just talking about the question: Subforum for the 3xx and 4xx series or not. I’m also asking oli, boisbleu and mike for an honest answer (this topic is not coordinated between us mods)

  • Arrogance is a bad seller

At the car dealership P. in N. you are treated exceptionally badly as a customer. At my telephone request whether the vehicle is still at the disposition, which is on the Internet, was given by the seller the order to send him a reservation mail, otherwise maybe 1.5 hours later (my arrival time) the car is sold. When I was on the first visit (1.5 hours after my phone call) in N., I was interested in a used Volvo S60, I was too The statement was: “I don’t care when this car will be sold, whether in a month or a year, that doesn’t matter to me. I don’t care about the price anyway.” At my request for a test drive, I was asked if I’m sure to buy the car, otherwise no test drive can be carried out. In short, I was treated like an Asocial Penner. ß ß the premises of the car dealership. Nevertheless, I ordered the vehicle by telephone 2 days later at a lady of the car dealership P. At this phone call it was agreed that the vehicle will be cleaned and polished again at my request and I will receive a complete set of winter bikes for 200.-EUR. At the vehicle collection I was informed, that actually nothing was done about the vehicle, since this was already in the preparation (whenever) and the My negative expectations were fulfilled after the first contacts with this house. The handover took place exactly as the whole previous process: “There are a few remote controls in the car, so just have to look for what they are and how they work.” Then I left this sad property with my acquired Volvo. The complete sale is the hardest example of how to not do it. By the way, I was the last 17 years working as a salesman in the automobile trade. If I had dealt with my customers in this form, any success would have failed me. Such dealers should be deprived of any license! Best regards V-2009 [Censored Names in the Post, see below]

  • What makes the Volvo brand different?

Hello, as part of a project at the university, I wanted to take the opportunity here in this forum to ask Volvo fans what makes the Volvo brand so special or why you prefer a Volvo to another car?! How do you think you would have to contact potential customers to convince them of the Volvo brand? I would really be very grateful for any information! Would Volvo fans be willing to participate in a questionnaire campaign on the Volvo brand, too. Of course you shouldn’t go out completely empty. Best regards Joe P.S.: You would really do me and my team an uncanny favour.

  • Anywhere is watchin gyou!

Volvo drivers, bad times are coming to you. For this, look at the Internet at http://www.stern.de/…/index.html?id=512025&%3Bnv=nl_hp_rt, which appears to be happening. On the other hand, the higher tax rate is a shock!

  • Volvo V60 – first sketches

According to Dagens Industri, S60 and V60 will replace today’s models S40 and V50. It is expected that the V50 (currently the best-selling model according to DI) will be phased out in 2011, so that there is a overlap where V60 and V50 (as well as S40 and S60) will be sold in parallel. S60/V60 is supposed to be realized on a completely new platform, which is part of “Volvo’s new platform strategy”.

  • Make oil change yourself

Hello! My S40 2.0D is now out of warranty time and has more than 100tkm down. Therefore I would like to carry out as much as possible on maintenance work myself. First of all, the oil change is about to happen, which I have never done myself. With some understandable instructions I would already be confident and I am sure to save some money (and also know what I spend money for). Sure, things like brakes, chassis, wedges, etc. would be i don’t touch myself, but can’t the other “simple” things be done with a little bit of instruction? I’m thinking about control of: coolant and brake fluid, brake pads, pipes and so on. Does that make sense in your opinion or am I too naive and should I rather leave my fingers off it? Unfortunately, at the moment I have to pay attention to the money and there are 100,- € already a lot. Greetings
