  • Which Volvo for the city?

Moin. What is your recommendation about Volvo in the city or short distance operation. approx. 11,000km/year. Our next one should be a moose again, but the final decision is not easy. Thought is an S40,V50 or S60. All the others fall out. I put together. The 1.6+2.0 diesel have DPF and sit down in the city/KS. The 1.6 allegedly don’t pull herring off the plate? Consumption? The 1.8 and 2.0 consume over 10l? The 2.4 to convert to gas? He city? A D5er? A maintenance too expensive but top. The turbos don’t come to Temp in the city. Did I forget anything or a mistake of mind? What are you driving in the jungle?

  • IAA: Volvo SC80 Concept

According to Teknikens Värld, Volvo will present the concept of a luxurious four-door coupé with tailgate, which appears to be positioned against Audi A7, Mercedes CLS and possibly Porsche Panamera (let’s see). The car should have four seats and measure just under 5 meters, interior materials and quality levels should be significantly more premium-moderate to compete successfully with the German manufacturers. The plug-in hybrid technology of the V60 Hybrid is also available for the SC80 (SC = Spor t Coupé) and the vehicle should also have innovative safety technology. Where the photos come from (made by Volvo? by Teknikens Värld with Photoshop?) is not quite clear to me. Personally, I don’t find the high sideline particularly appealing. By the way, for China, an extended version of the S60 (S60L) is planned for next year; there is already an S80L there.

  • IAA report – Disappointment at Volvo

Hello, I don’t want to bore you now with the xth IAA report or with photos. I would be interested, however, if it was similar to others with Volvo. As Sweden friends we of course also looked at the Volvo stand. Besides the “normal suspects” there was as novelty the C70. First O-tone of my wife: With Volvo all cars look the same. In the closer exploration of the car I was then quite disappointed. My wife is completely right. Also there is no beautiful Coupe line more. The elegance of the old C70 coupe has completely disappeared. Obviously, due to the technical conditions, a folding roof can never form a beautiful Coupe line. Closed it looks simply too “eggy”. Due to the base S40/V50 the car also has a rather short bonnet, which makes the car in particular open look rather unshaped. The proportions are somehow not right. I find it annoying that the basic type is the S40/V50, the Wa The C70 is in particular against CLK, 3 Series convertible and, of course, 9-3 Convertible. The prices are supposed to be at Saab level. That’s what I think is a bit too expensive. It would have been honest for Volvo to call the car C50 and to make the car a little cheaper. Overall, I’m quite disappointed by the C70. The elegance has been completely lost by the folding roof and the base. Do you think of the new C70? I will miss the old one! Greetings Celeste

  • What do you carry around with you -> THE Volvo trailer thread (whether it’s standard or exotic)

Hi together, during the “blanking through” of my photo archives (days: Volvo + trailer 😉 the selection seemed to me worth a thread (in addition, it’s just summer hole). An AHK can not only be used improperly, but also well, if the normal filling capacity of a Volvo is exhausted. So what do you attract so exotic or “normal” with your Volvo through the area? I start with a relatively unspectacular picture (and hope to be able to increase then). [To this day h I only saw this combination 2 times (except my own panning of course ;-)]

  • Wankel as diesel?

The American holding company L-3 Communications, which includes around 70 companies worldwide with annual sales of more than eight billion dollars, will support a substantial part of the development work. This includes a contract recently signed with Wankel Super Tec Cottbus GmbH. The company is presenting the engine today at the “Aeronautics and Space Conference” in Cottbus. The Cottbus development series includes an engine power spectrum of 60 to 300 hp. nkel-Diesel would consume slightly more fuel on the test bench than equally strong reciprocating piston engines, says Klotz. However, this is not the case in driving operations. Because the Wankel engines are only half as heavy as conventional diesel. The overall vehicle system thus becomes lighter, saving fuel when accelerating and on gradients. The Cottbuser Wankel Super Tec now wants to go into the search for Brandenburg companies, which as a supplier on a future series product I would like to take part in this debate.

  • ROIK: Android Box as a Sensus supplement for Volvo SPA models

Hello everyone! This is about the Android box, which can be used in addition to the Sensus system and offers an ex-works look-and-feel with a variety of possibilities. (material from me, tomiradi and others is used). What exactly is this? It is an external Android box, with Octacore and 2GB Ram (so relatively fast), which is connected to existing ports in the Volvo (so no friemel with cables or similar). It is operated via the Sensus and has an e igenes Micro (language control via Google), its own speaker (for navigators or flash warnings) and its own GPS antenna. Internet comes via USB router (BANXX solution) or modem in the Volvo or Tethering from the mobile phone. Here’s the good piece:http://kaptrader.co.kr/volvo_android/ Price is 290,-$ + 60,-$ for shipping. Thanks to the dollar weakness the conversion into € is favorable. If payment via Western Union app the transmission fees are only 4,90€. (Info from @Tomiradi ) You can use each It was similar to the navigation software available for Android, i.e. TomTom Go, Google Maps, Sygic etc. Everything was convenient to use via the touchscreen. Of course, apps like Blitzer.de Plus, even as a widget in the corner, are also running. Music apps (e.g. Spotify with offline function), entertainment apps of any kind, yes, everything is running on the system. Since you also use existing ports and don’t snap around, there should be no warranty problems. You can also connect other external games, so For example cameras (dashcams) or TV modules. An WIFI Dashcam can display the image permanently on the Sensus with the corresponding app (who needs it). • Are elk pack animals?

The situation is as follows: You go to a large parking lot or look for a parking space for your moose along a road. Then you see two free places. One is right next to another moose, but 50m further away. And? Does your laziness or the pack drive of your moose prevail?

  • Update for Sensus voice control, as of 11.21

Volvo actually released an update after over two years for the voice control of the Sensus (that without Android Automotive). Even if I didn’t expect much, maybe for one or the other what is improving…. The download works similar to that of USB maps updates https://www.volvocars.com/en/support/downloads/voice-control – release date 24/10/2019 – language data version 32141802AA … into: + release date 26/11/2021 + language data version 31494215AA
