  • Myth Killer: X3 and S40 as test vehicles for fuel saving techniques …

Hi together, let’s be honest, who cares about fuel saving at all? No interest in Volvo ECO training has taken place, let alone registered – and we are here in the high-priced country of the oil industry. It’s a bit strange for me that an American magazine takes on the topic and with a Volvo S40 MY2005 (ok, an X3 was also there) it’s a bit strange to find the “true” and “wrong” tricks to get the wallet thickness. But read for yourself: Edmunds .COM: We Test the Tips. I don’t want to be ridiculous about it either, but after the overflying of the article, I would add for the good readership: + Let the car stand as often as you can. We saved 100% fuel with both test vehicles in this way! + Driving in the wind shadow (search for a truck and hang yourself) + Motor tuning (will also be offered for fuel consumption minimisation) + Drive downhill as often as possible 😉 Torsten – the XC -Fan (and hovers between Klamauk and serious background in this US article 😉

  • “Everything used to be better” – hit new cars?

frankwo has posted a really interesting article from 1978 in his legendæren zeitreisethread today. therefore the adac-pannenliste was already in 1978 æusserst sad leftuere for volvo friends: all models are negatively noticeable in the list, the Hollænder 343 and 66 cut off very badly, the former is even nr. 3 on the loserlist. under 27000 new registrations of the year 1977 even 17.1/1000 of the wonderful 240 panenhilfe (waltrauds Jahrgang!). o Although it is said that in most cases these were simple problems… it is obvious that this is not so much a duest number compared to today. which is also true of the error rates of the other volvos – and the 36,6 of the lonely “top rider” citroën cx correspond to the triple of today’s negative “top rider” vw t4/t5 for one year old vehicles… for the old article, however, it is already remarkable that there is neither a proper table nor ch pay to the “prestigetrætigigen mercedes-limousinen” gives… dear gruss oli

  • Oil quality

Hello Volvogemeinde, My Elk (C30, 1.6D) normally needs an engine oil with the following specifications Oil quality: WSS-M2C913-B Viscosity: SAE 5W–30 and for unfavourable conditions Oil quality: ACEA A5/B5 Viscosity: SAE 0W–30 Well, to my question, you can mix the two varieties, e.g. I always carry 1-2L oil with you (as an ex-passat driver a MUST). I would say, the C30 was delivered with the standard oil – is it wrong if I use the other oil (0W-30) as an optional supplement? Thank you in advance for your tips. Romeo

  • AMS article: “Umweltpanik bei Volvo”

This article in the Swedish AMS quotes unspecified internal sources from Volvo on the current projects at Volvo. According to this, there is currently a huge pressure on costs (missions allegedly have to be approved by Arp), except in the projects dealing with the new S60 and the reduction of consumption of the existing engines. Plans for a small-volvo based on Fiesta were stopped afterwards. Incidentally: – In the autumn of 2009 a V70 1.6D with 119g CO2/km come – An optimized C30 1.6D should emit only 104 g CO2/km – The 2.0F should be replaced by a 1.6FT (turbo) due to its high consumption, which debuts in the new S60 and then also comes in the V70. – Supposedly one has managed to reduce the consumption of the R6 to 7.1 l/100km. There were already plans to completely adjust the R6 due to the high consumption. – One tests allegedly currently the 8-speed automatic from ZF – 2012 should be the first hybrid based on a Four-cylinder engines are coming (information in other articles had spoken of “Mild hybrid engines”, which are already available much earlier. If applicable, this hybrid is the first Volvo full hybrid.)

  • More consumption with cruise control or not???

Halli Hello your expert! Is there any insight whether my fuel consumption increases when driving with cruise control compared to driving without cruise control??? driving V50, 2,4i. Thank you for information and many greetings.

  • GPS total failure or hardware error with me?

Hello everyone. I have the following problem: Since yesterday about 2 p.m. I don’t get enough navigation information with my GPS receiver. Is it the alleged nuclear test of North Korea or American protection shutdowns (which overreact already)? Or is my GPS receiver broken? Although data is received, but not enough satellites are found. Originally I thought it was a regional “electric smog”, but today on the way to Holl and I had the same problem. Who knows advice? Greetings Markus

  • European petrol prices in the US?

in a newsweek article is proposed to raise the gasoline prices in the usa by taxes to $6 per gallon, an almost twice as high price as now. if I see this correctly, however, are these still below €1.10 per liter? probably this is a politically impossible project anyway, but the thought is interesting. liebe gruss oli

  • A thick US thing – the new moose scare

After long pondering I have come to the conviction that traditions want to be maintained – which is also particularly true for me as a professed VOLVO symphatists here ….. Therefore this Fred, in which I present the new XXL-elk scare briefly for warning / information of all moose drivers here … After a long selection procedure (including XC70 III 3,2, Jeep Commander 3.0 CRD) it has then become THAT here …..

  • Does Saab build better engines than Volvo ?!

Hello what do you think about the current engine range at Volvo. Does this IMHO stand in contrast to the current quarterly losses or is this already the “quenchment” of the (old) customers Do you think that the V70 III (Volvos drawhorse) is not accepted by the clientele to the extent that it would be necessary. Apart from the loyal followers here who have already bought one. Certainly someone comes around the corner and says: read in the forum what the for Prob Data from Saab engines Apart from the polarizing design, the engines are economical and balanced as a real alternative to Volvo. The performance is much finer than at the moment at Volvo. You could have done the obviously big error (the 2.4, 140 hp) if the 2.0T had remained in the program. Greeting Jan

  • …and now to something completely different…heico-chip-tuning!

Halli, hello, I myself, old tuning-muffel, am interested in a Heico chip tuning for my D5 (version without sports exhaust system for 1510 € 190 hp, 390 Nm). I would like to ask some questions about what people here think of their tuning in hindsight with experience…still so euphoric??? I’m a rather carrier driver and a sporty driving way does not appeal to me. I just want to get a little better “from the spot”. Can one like me recommend a tuning? Does the tuning in “normal” n” operation is noticeable at all? Thank you for every answer (I know that the topic must be taken up by everyone here). Ciao, Tom
