  • Brake pads down front after 60000km ?

Hello you, just my 18 month old elk is at the 60000 inspection. just he called and meant the brake pads you have to change in front. it was however no wear-warning lamp on or something. Not that I am standing on the brake now like a madman (yes, I know the accelerator is right) but I had a stone between brake pad and disk a week ago. That squealed and cracked like a sow, but after a short return drive the noise disappeared like it had come. Could it be that the pads got something? did not notice anything while driving before. I’m curious what the original VOLVO coverings cost. That is in Luxembourg it has only 15% VAT. has someone experience what the 60000 costs? oil I brought myself thank you in advance for your answers Grusss from Luxembourg

  • 2.0 TDI EA288 when robust?

Hello together, with regard to the 2.0 TDI EA288 engines there are known to be some initial problems, such as with the cylinder treads and the resulting oil consumption. Also AGR problems and turbochargers are frequently discussed topics, as can be seen in the videos of Red Head cylinder head technology on YouTube. The initial models from 2013 to about 2017 seem to be affected. Do you know from which year of construction or engine identification letters these problems have been solved? And what about the EA288 Evo? Have these model improvements been made or do similar problems occur? About information about this topic I would be very grateful

  • Conversion 1.4 16V Golf5 on 1.6 block

Greetings, I would be interested to know if you’ve been remodeling from a 2008 1.4 16V BUD with 59kW on something bigger or ideally on a 1.6 block (probably with Langhub) I’ve been looking for a wolf for weeks, but I don’t know any more in various Polo forums per se. The 1.4 in the 5 golf has now 170tkm, and in the long term (in 2 3 years at probably 220tkm) I would have it overtaken. I’m a sucker fan, the 80 hp reach me loosely – half city, half country road is my profile. Nevertheless, I really want to convert to newer technology like air mass meters, possibly camshaft adjustment (?), more cylinder capacity and above all away from the piston tipper-like 1.4 block The whole is probably Utopia and so a bitl dream – but I thought I’d like to know that a conversion to 1.8T, turbo generally or something much cheaper. I don’t want to have a turbo, short for example For Robust I can only repeat the 1.4 bit of information about it.

  • My new V40 – First reviews

Now I have found my new car with your energetic support and wanted to let you all participate in my first impressions in everyday life. Unfortunately, I have not been able to drive much with it yet, because I only get my winter bikes on Monday or Tuesday, and it is not really possible here in Berlin to ride around with summer tires. The few rides that I have made yet, have convinced me completely that I have made the right decision. I am most attached to the nevertheless quite immense performance of the 1.8 engine, connected with an almost silent glide away, which I had not experienced so far. Clutch and gear feel like new, it can be switched on softly and drive on. The seating comfort is a completely new experience for me, which up to now mainly VW Polo, Golf and Fiat Doblo has driven. Even the fact that one has a lumbar support, has surprised me very positively. Also with the sound I am more than satisfied, not even the retrofitted Pioneer speakers in the polo have passed there. The only disadvantage so far is the fact that I have not yet improved the speed of winter, but I still have improved the speed of the snow.

  • Engine/gear squeaks

Hello, just come from a ride of 120km, of which 90km highway. Now I’m driving to my parking lot, let the window down and hear this squeak. Sound first like the brakes, which can squeak a bit while grinding slightly, but the noise did not disappear in the stand either. bonnet on – the noise does not come from the passenger side of the engine, where the belt drives the aggregates and also the timing belt runs, but from the driver side, it can’t be located more precisely. On the engine it’s also quite loud, the running noise drowns clearly. If I give some gas, it disappears from about 1500 rpm. This has occurred once before after a long distance, but not every time. Does one of you have an idea? V40, Bj. 98, 1.8 85KW

  • Interior lighting cables

Greetings! Would have a question regarding the interior lighting. I have to switch the front position lights over the ZV or via the interior lighting. Now I have put cable of the lamp on the ground, the following result from left to right (alt. picture) Red-White: nix Red: Duration plus Green: Duration plus Yellow-Blue: nix Black: nix Yellow-brown: Duration plus, switches off when ceiling light is green-yellow: Duration plus, switches off when ceiling light is on. Hm…am not sooooo with electronics, but does this mean that the interior lighting is switched on Mass? And where do I connect the cable, which then goes to the front position lights? (Well, I go ahead of the fuse (position lights) in the engine room) Thank you for a few feedbacks and thought impulses Greeting Wolfgang

  • New assistance systems

Hello, the new V40 is about to be released. Now a lot of information is already known and here in the forum there is already a Dutch price list of the new V40. I have an S60 2011 with all assistance systems and I have to say I’m thrilled. But now my question: The V40 is waiting with new systems (improved tote angle warning, monitoring of side traffic at crossings, speed detection, parking assistant,…) From when is it realistic that these novelties are also available for other models especially for S60, V60 or XC60? Already in the model year 2013 which is shortly before or only in the MJ 2014. The Sensus has now been introduced very agilely in almost all model series. Thank you already in advance for information Greeting Andreas

  • Help, I bought a computer!

Dear Volvo Community, I have always had only old cars, my last and most modern car was a V70 I of 97. Now I switched to a V70 III Bj 5/13 (VorFL) and have a few questions, because I am overwhelmed with some technical games: 1. Can the car actually not show me the cooling water temperature??? And if yes, how? 2. I wanted to connect my music to the car, so I put a USB stick in the connection first. When this was not recognized, I connected my MP3 player there. The MP3 player showed a connection and was charged, but on the display of the vehicle was still “USB-connect”. On the website of Volvo it says that it can take a bit of time depending on the number of files. How long would that be and does it not at least indicate that a device is connected? Thank you for your help!

  • More and more noises in the interior

Hello, I have the feeling that I hear more and more creaked, chamoised and more polished in the interior. The plastic claddings seem to work massively, especially now at low outside temperatures. The door rubbers I have the feeling (although treated with rubber care) stick to the holms and produce an annoying noise with every unevenness, as if it were tearing away. Generally, the plastic pinches on the arm, touch, pull the door, etc. From the trunk cover come also flapping noises. I have so slowly the muzzle full of Volvo. Was already 3 times in the factory saddle because of this shit. It was gone – now it comes back stronger. Do you also have similar problems with the XC60 or do I tend to overestimate it?
