Drive a 93 Aero Cabrio with 6 gears circuit for about 14 days. From the beginning, the 2nd gears were difficult to install. In the warm operating conditions, switching became easier. After motorway operation flawless. However, in the morning, when the engine is cold, the 2nd gears are annoying. Does anyone have similar problems? Or was this solved by a corresponding grated oil (viscosity)? Are gear oil additives recommended here? For a short information I am grateful.

Diesel engine torque curve/turn
Hello Forum members I make a JRC about diesel engines and their operation. However, it is not yet quite clear to me how the torque curve or the course of the torque comes to the edge. My assumption is that in the optimal case the torque would have to remain the same over the whole speed range.Various factors influence this, which is why a low torque lies in the lower speed range, rises to the optimum point and falls again. Factors ( which I’m still looking for ) [b]minimize in order to achieve a flat torque curve as flat as possible. Is that so far? My conjectures: Falling torque in the upper speed range: Due to vortices in the cylinder, not the whole burnt mixture escapes during the blast and is still in the combustion chamber when the ignition is nearer. The burned mixture cannot produce torque. The fuel cannot distribute quickly enough in the combustion chamber, therefore there is no need for the combustion chamber. The time of the explosion is wrong, because it is not possible to move it as far forward (time) as possible. Otherwise there would be misignition, over the piston over the dead point (at the very top) would be. Thus, there is a lower torque and a limitation of the highest speed. The cylinder we are at some point exposed to too high loads due to the rapid change of the direction of motion. Limitation of the speed upwards. (but why can we do this?) This is true? What is there still falling torque in the low speed range The hardening of air and fuel is not right. Too little air. No optimal combustion. (But with compressor engines this does not look much better than with or without turbocharger) Which factors still play a role? which were all wrong? Somehow opening times of the valves, gas changes. What do the manufacturers do about the torque curve to o ptimieren? I know a lot of questions that I have there. But I also tried to formulate my questions intelligibly. I would be pleased with many answers.

Battery change at the W 220
Since I have had a completely empty battery in the last few weeks 2 times in the morning (with all the theatre due to starting aid ADAC and so from the engine compartment, since even the boot or the automatic selector lever did not work anymore), I would like to change the battery now. I have to find out that I can not even expand the battery. The maintenance booklet describes very lapidary that nut the bracket should be loosened and removed, but: I cannot discover any bracket, the battery sits as if cast in her place, nowhere to see a fastening. Behind there is still a plastic / foam covered part that I can not identify (floor heating? a part for the air suspension?). Can someone with a same model (S 320 CDI L, full equipment) please give me a tip on how the battery is removed? Many thanks to all and many greetings King Lion

W140 or W126
Dear Starfriends Ride, highly satisfied, a 300 SEL (W126). Now I have the opportunity to buy a top-notch (wholeless service booklet of course), unbasked, 300 SEL (W140 – with 3.2 liter engine) – built in 1991, nearly 160’000 km mileage, leather, climate, airbags, automatic antenna, etc. What it does not have: heatable front seats, electric seat adjustment – although the latter does not bother me at all; admitted, the heating function is useful. I know and have studied them. I am particularly interested in opinions of MB drivers who know BEDE series. I am not a frequent driver (monthly approx. 500 kilometers). Twice S-Class doesn’t have to be, one vehicle is enough for me; so I recently sold my 300 CE-24 to a good friend (and MB fan 100 %). I thank you very much for your assessments! Best regards TAKIS

Navigation CDs for W220
Hello together and merry Christmas :-), I have a W220 Bj. 99 S500 and have a Navi CD Teleatlas 1999 that works perfectly. Now I thought of a more up-to-date version could not hurt 🙂 and ordered me Blaupunkt Travel Pilot Germany 2005/2006 (no DX). When the 3 CDs came I tried out immediately with the result: no navigation CD please change CD. With all three no success. The whole returned and got new. Again with the same Erg ebnis, my Navi (Command D) does not recognize the CDs. The old one is easily recognized and read and funtioned. Does anyone have an idea what the mistake can be? Thanks to you and greeting M
